What does TiM do?
Transplants in Mind is a registered charity (number 1095611) set up to promote awareness and educate the public about organ and tissue donation for transplantation.
Through our campaigns and positive stories about transplantation, support from local organisations and associated charities, we encourage people to talk to their family about their wish to donate and to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register. Our aim is to reduce the number of people on the transplant waiting list, and so decrease the numbers who die every year whilst awaiting a transplant (over 400 every year).
Our remit now also allows us to fund research into all aspects of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. Download Current Constitution.
Our work includes:
- Running National Transplant Week – a week of campaigning and publicity to promote organ and tissue donation
- Donor Days , North and South – where we aim to encourage local businesses to run their own organ donor awareness campaigns with our support and materials
- Donor Bus – 1947 Routemaster which travels the country promoting donation and transplantation
- Supporting our member organisations and network of volunteers through the provision of information, promotion and publicity material
- Contact with the media to promote positive stories on transplantation
- Supporting local and national campaigns (e.g. LLGL).
