the Donor Bus

On 23 March Transplants in Mind appointed Ray Pearson as the first Donor Bus Manager. Over the coming months Ray will be developing a strategy for the Donor Bus with the intention of increasing its profile and availabilty. To contact Ray or telephone 0117 931 4638.

In December 2005 the charity Donor Family Network (one of TIM’s member charities) donated the Donor Bus to TIM. The Donor Family Network believed that the future of The Bus would be more secure under the management of TIM.

The Bus is a 1962 London Transport Routemaster Bus and has been, and will continue to be, used as a highly visual promotional and educational tool. It is an established symbol associated with organ and tissue donation, and is recognised by the Department of Health, transplant units, transplant related charities and the public in the role it plays in the education and promotion of issues surrounding organ and tissue donation.

The Bus is available to Members of Transplants in Mind for events around the UK. It is also available for hire by other organisations wanting to promote organ and tissue donation at local events. If you are interested in booking the Donor Bus please complete the Donor Bus Questionnaire, and read the associated Risk Assessment.
