Abigail Fisher ”It’s really important to support Transplants in Mind. They do such wonderful work in raising the profile of organ donation. With continued help from the public and by registering on the Organ Donor Register, we can start to take people’s lives back from disease. People want to help, but often they don’t know how. ”

It is really important to let them know of your wishes should the unfortunate happen

”People should be actively involved spreading the news. Quite often people want to donate and are on the register but haven’t told anyone – their family and friends. It is really important to let them know of your wishes should the unfortunate happen. I got involved because my good friend Glenn Mortimer has had two kidney transplants already. One when he was thirteen and one this year. The second time his kidney was donated by his father, but he was on dialysis for a while beforehand.
Also, my father is currently waiting for a bone marrow donor, therefore I have firsthand experience now, of what it is really like to stay by the phone waiting for the opportunity to start your life again. We have the capacity to do this, but more people need to know how.”
