By now, we all know that a healthier lifestyle is one which includes a balanced diet and a degree of exercise. However, it can be difficult to design a new lifestyle regime from scratch: how to know the amount of exercise? How to decide what to eat?
If you are new to healthy living, you may well be confused by all the fitness media and hyped up miracle diets out there. However, by following a few basic guidelines, you will find that structuring a good, solid eating and exercise plan that will work for you is not as difficult as it seems.
To begin with, you should focus on what you are putting into your body. Remember that crash diets, involving only lettuce and protein shakes are not going to work. This kind of meal plan will only encourage your metabolism to slow down, making it harder for you to lose weight in the long term.
You need to organise a well balanced series of meals that will complement your work out plan. Try to eat around five small servings of food a day, and make sure that fresh fruit and vegetables feature regularly.
Once your eating is sorted out, you can move on to working out your exercise routine. Remember not to over-face yourself at first. If you aren't used to a lot of physical activity, throwing yourself head on into a marathon will do more damage than good. Instead of aiming too high, set yourself a series of short term goals and start with small projects.
